    Lose yourself in the famous Golden Triangle in Thailand
    On the return journey , I started from Sop Ruak following the footsteps of Khun Sa, going 50 miles towards west of the once notorious village of Mae Salong. It is renamed as Santikhiri now. The village was settled initially by the members of Chiang Kai-shek’s huge number of Yunnanese nationalist army that fled the Chinese communists in 1949. The poppy fields covering the fertile mountainsides are no longer present as they once it used to be, and are replaced by terraced tree plantations cascading the steep slopes down the valleys below. Santilhiri still has its old . Scruffy Yunnanese charm with rickety wooden shops and many tea houses.
